We opted to not enter through the pyramid, but instead through a side door. This allowed us to SPRINT to the Mona Lisa. We heard that the room gets VERY crowded as the day goes on. This was a superb choice, as there were about 20 people around us, and it allowed us to take a picture with the famed painting.
The Mona Lisa - probably as big as my notepad.
Very very tired after our sprint, which is probably a good workout as we've been eating way too much.
The huge corridors. It made Versaille look puny.
The famous Winged Victory
Back in those days, an artist would spend so much time and effort to make something "fit for a king". The details on these crystals were astounding. Nowadays, Obama should eat off of what the people eat off of, Target china it is!
Just a reference as to how big the rooms are:
I've seen this before, but not sure where. So, decided to take a picture
Interesting camera angle....
Saw this at Caesar's Palace and thought a picture would be nice.
This Mona Lisa was probably as good as the real thing....
On the way to something Aphrodite, or...the lady w/ the boobs and no arms
The real thing....we had to fight with some Asians to get this one. They are so rude, standing there, pushing us out. We stared them down, they stared us down. So they pushed us, we pushed them...but voila, le picture!
The husband vs. the Lion. Also, this is probably one of the few sculptures that's not of a naked person
On the way to the original Louvre
Sphinx of Egypt
Berries...I want some...so hungry!
Was this a dowry back in the day?
That was a difficult pose
This was just cool looking
Please cover up sir.....
Inside the Pyramid - now we're just waiting for Tom Cruise to fly through the glass
That concludes our trip to Le Louvre.
The day continues with some late afternoon espresso at the InterContinental Lounge and some YUMMY Macaroons. I seriously am NOT a macaroon fan, but these beat all the other famous ones (i.e. Pierre Herme).
Some MORE foie gras shopping. We will definitely do our best to bring some home!!!! Oh California, why must you ban such great stuff?!?! And, not just only foie gras, but shark fin soup as well.... = (
Such a gloomy day. This was the view of the Opera House. It's located right outside our hotel.
Eating dinner at Cafe De La Paix, the hotel restaurant. We did not know that this was a famous restaurant. That would explain the 20 Euros French Onion Soup. It was the best onion soup ever though....except mom's of course. This soup uses MSG! Mom, are you proud of me for detecting MSG in my soup?
Le Canard
More Beef Tartare. For some reason, everywhere we go, the servers always make sure we understand that tartare means raw...of course we know, we just like our food that way.
Pomme Frites!!!
That concludes our day. Now, we're going to stay in, listen to the rain outside and watch a movie.....I'll be so sad when we must leave Paris.
