During my month between jobs, I was lucky enough to go to visit several different places. Kauai was the last trip before I started work. It was actually a weekend getaway that was pre planned prior to my resignation.
Day 1:
We checked into the Grand Hyatt Kauai in Poipu. Since it was February, I read that the weather was better in the south part of the island, as opposed to Princeville, the northern part of the island. I was debating between Grand Hyatt Kauai in Poipu and the St. Regis Princeville.
The resort is MASSIVE! But it has a rocky beach, Shipwreck Beach, that's good to lounge at. I wouldn't recommend swimming.

Pretty awesome view |

That night, we dined at Merrimen's at this strip mall near the resort |
Day 2:
With only two nights, and three days, we wouldn't have time to explore much. So, instead of kayaking or participating in activities that most others do to explore Kauai, we opted for the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter ride. It's nice to see the island from up high.

The Napali coast is beautiful from up high |

We hovered inside this extinct volcano. It is the volcano that created Kauai |

THe baby we flew in |
After the helicopter ride, we drove around the north coast. It's a beautiful scenic drive. We saw some beaches and caves on the way. Some of the famed stops were Napali Coast, and Waimea Bay.
One thing to note is Kauai has a rooster and hen problem. They are wild, and they are EVERYWHERE! Fearless of humans. The story behind it is in the early 90s, there was a storm. Some birds got loose, and they procreated and now the island has a problem.

More roosters and hens - seriously, they are EVERYWHERE |

A second wet cave - meaning there's water there. Please do not swim. |

Bye Bye North Shore |
Day 3:
This is the last day before we leave. We spent it around the resort, and enjoying the facilities. I didn't get any pictures, but the Grand Hyatt Kauai has a lazy pool AND a waterslide, along with a man made salt water lagoon, adult pools, kids pools, and just a lot of places to hang out. I got to know my inner child, and rented a tube. We went down the small lazy river a handful of times, and even down the waterslide! It was very fun!
We also explored the south side of the island and visited Poipu Beach and Shipwreck Cliff.

It was nice and refreshing up there |
Overall, very nice getaway! But by that time, I was ready to go home and started applying my brains towards tax accounting again. Now, as I am taking a break from tying out my tax accounting spreadsheet, I wish I was in Kauai.
How the grass is always greener on the other side.
