We made a detour to Maui for a friend's wedding in early November. With only two days on the island, we weren't able to get a sense of island life. It was way too rushed and required another visit in the future.
The resort we stayed at, the Westin Ka'anapali, was refurbished not too long ago and we were lucky enough to have scored an upgrade to the 10th floor on the refurbished wing. Unfortunately, the mountain view was nothing to write home about. The side facing the waters overlook the pool, which was very crowded and noisy. Food was expensive at the resort.
All in all, we did not get the opportunity to fully enjoy our slight detour. However, we've heard great things about Maui, and can't wait to come back for a real getaway one day (in a different resort)!
