Bonjour mes ami!
Upon arrival, our room was not ready. They had us in a double twin. Due to some superstition on not sleeping on pushed together twin beds, we were made to wait in the lovely Intercontinental Le Grand Club Lounge while they got our king bed ready. Here, we snacked on Champagne, and a late brunch that consisted of Cheese, Pate, Petit Sandwiches, and Macaroons!!! I'm not a macaroon person, but these are seriously the BEST macaroons I've ever had, and I didn't make it to Laduree yet!
We then walked to our first Parisian Dinner, L'ardoise. The walk was lovely, and we engaged a friendly French couple to take a picture of us at Place Vendôme. It's a beautiful square with practically nothing to do at 8:00 pm. All the stores were closed, and no shopping was to be had.
Place Vendôme
Next up - Dinner!!!! We heard that Parisians dine at 9:00 pm or later, and anything sooner than that was completely "tourist". Tonight, we would welcome the "tourist" dining hour as we were completely jet-lagged. But, luck wasn't on our side, and we snagged a 9:00 pm reservation at this quaint bistro.
Dinner at L'ardoise was good, but service was a bit off putting. However, we attributed this to them being "French" and went on with our meal. For 36 Euros per person, it wasn't mind-blowing, but fairly delicious. My thoughts were to order the things that aren't easily found in the states; thus the not so WOW meal. I should've stuck to my preferred food choices but it's all for the experience. The escargot pastry was definitely worth it! We ended the meal with a thought, "we don't give a tip?" After spying on the French couple next to us, no tip it is. Strange, but sure!
Then the walk back to our lovely hotel.
Our view from the hotel room!
Bonne nuit mes amis!!!
